Kumara School
Full primary school situated in a semi-rural setting on the West Coast of New Zealand.
Established in 1877, Kumara School currently has a roll of 39 pupils which are split over two multi-levelled classrooms. We have a teaching principal, a junior room teacher, a release teacher and a learning assistant who make up our teaching team. This team is well supported by our fantastic Board of Trustees and also our part time office administrator, our cleaner and our caretaker.
We are also very lucky with our large and well maintained outside areas which include court space, a back field for outdoor sports, trees to climb in and a school fort and climbing frames. The school buildings comprise 2 classrooms and administration block, along with a new library which was completed in 2005. The old outdoor school pool has been converted into a tunnel house where the students grow vegetables, flowers etc. We encourage healthy eating and provide lessons using healthy selections from our garden.

Community Pool
Open 6am - 9pm Daily (Summer)
We are extremely fortunate to have a community swimming pool. The pool is available for use by the community during the swimming season and is fully covered, so very warm. It's 2.45m at it's deepest and 0.95m at its shallowest. The pool is a wonderful asset to our community and your involvement is strongly encouraged.
